Dr. Ashhad Imam

Dr. Ashhad Imam is a civil and structural engineering professional, researcher, and academic dedicated to advancing sustainable infrastructure through engineering excellence, innovation, and research-driven solutions. As Founder and Director of Global Research Arena (GRA), he leads a platform committed to bridging the gap between academia, industry, and society through practical engineering solutions, research support, technical consultancy, and professional development.

Dr. Imam holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from NIT Jamshedpur, India, and an M.S. in Structural Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia, completed under a full university scholarship. Following his postgraduate studies, he worked as a Civil Engineer with Hamed Al Ghamdi Engineering Consultancy (CONTEC), Al Khobar, where he conducted structural condition assessments, corrosion surveys, and durability evaluations for reinforced concrete infrastructure, including projects for the Royal Commission of Jubail. This period gave him direct, field-level experience with the real-world durability challenges facing infrastructure in the Gulf’s marine and high-temperature environments.

Dr. Imam served more than 12 years of his experience in the field of academics and Research, where he has built academic research programme spanning concrete durability, corrosion of reinforcement, sustainable and alkali-activated binders, self-healing concrete, and non-destructive/microstructural characterization. His work has produced 35 peer-reviewed journal publications (24 in SCIE/Scopus-indexed venues), 5 filed patents on eco-friendly and sustainable construction materials, and 3 authored plus 2 edited books, including *Concrete Technology* (2024).

At Global Research Arena, Dr. Imam’s vision is to create a knowledge ecosystem where researchers, engineers, students, and industry can collaborate on practical, sustainable infrastructure solutions — extending the same applied-research approach that has shaped his own career, from field diagnostics in Saudi Arabia to durability research and consultancy in India today.
